Learn how to create and broadcast overlays on Maestro.
An overlay is an interactive element that allows users to broadcast contextual graphics and information at key moments of a stream. All overlays can be customized and broadcast from the "Overlays" tab.
How to Create an Overlay
- Navigate to a Live Channel.
Click the "Overlays" button
in the admin bar on the left hand side of your window to open the Overlays tab.
- Click "Create Overlay"; you will then see a list of the available Overlays within the platform. Click any Overlay type to preview it.
- Once you've selected the Overlay that you'd like to use, click "Use" to configure it.
- You can set the duration on most of our overlays (Note: we typically recommend 30 seconds for a simple message or 60 seconds for any overlay that requires an action from the viewer)
- Follow the instructions on each tab to configure your overlay. Some overlays allow you to add an optional CTA:
- Open a link Show a specific panel
- Play a video Show a person
- Show a group of people
- Share something on Facebook
- Show the video player statistics
- Go to a specific live channel
- Prompt viewers to log In
- Send a tweet
How to Broadcast an Overlay
- Click "Overlays" from your admin tab
- You can either create a new overlay with the steps above or select from your previously saved overlays in your library.
- Once the overlay has been created or selected, click the broadcast
button to push changes live.
