Maestro's Paywalls allow you to monetize individual videos on your Video Pages by requiring viewers to purchase access before watching. You can offer one-time purchases and membership-based access all configurable directly from the admin toolbar.
Paywalls are created on a channel or page-specific basis. That means when a channel or page is gated, the viewer needs the associated ticket and/or subscription to view that specific channel or page.
Here are the steps you can follow to add a ticket or subscription gate to your channel.
- From the Page or Live Channel that you'd like to place behind a Paywall, click "Paywall" in the admin toolbar at the bottom of your window.
Once the Paywall state opens, click "Edit Gate" in the toolbar to open the editor.
- Set up what type of Entitlement (that's our word for a ticket or subscription) by following the steps in this article: How to Create a Ticket or Subscription
- Once your tickets and subscriptions are created, they will appear in the Tickets, Bundles, and Subscriptions Modal for use on your site.
- Click the check mark button next to the ticket, subscription, and bundle that you'd like to attach to the gate. It will appear in the Access Control modal.
Setting Visibility:
- On the right hand side of the modal, there is a toggle switch marked "Visible". If the visibility toggled on, the ticket, subscription, or bundle will be visible to your end-users and available to purchase.
- If the visibility is toggled off, the ticket, subscription, or bundle is not visible to your end users to purchase. However, any user who has purchased this entitlement in the past will be able to access the content. This allows you to create tiered pricing, special sale prices, etc.
- If you would like to remove a ticket, subscription, or bundle from a gate and therefore revoke access from customers holding that entitlement, delete it from the gate using the
(trashcan) button.
Enable the Gate
- Once you have created your entitlements and set visibility, click the "Done" button on the Access Control modal.
- The modal will close and you will see your paywall gate with the Editor open as a preview. Review the gate and if necessary, make changes. When you're ready to turn the paywall on, click "Publish" in the admin bar on the bottom of the screen to push the paywall live.
